The eleventh Evolution! Mallorca International Film Festival has announced its programme, which includes 127 screenings (89 national premieres, 17 European premieres and 21 world premieres) in all its sections and formats. This year features a new section dedicated to debut films, with six titles in competition, and another section, called Made in Baleares, with 30 films produced or filmed in this Mediterranean archipelago.

Actress Nastassja Kinski (Paris, Texas) will receive the Mallorca Film Award during the opening ceremony on 26 October in Palma. She will be joined by Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig (Italian for Beginners, An Education [+lire aussi :

, a harsh critique of rampant capitalism by Ruben Östlund. Also in the debut films section are the German Sweet Disaster, from Laura Lehmus, centred around a break-up after an unexpected pregnancy; What We Know [+lire aussi :

(Poland), by Filip Gieldon, about a young mother who dreams of becoming a DJ. We will also discover the US productions Take The Night, directed by newcomer Seth McTigu, and In Her Name, directed by Sarah Carter, and the Japanese Labyrinth, directed by Xue Ma.

Also, Phyllis Nagy's Call Jane (United States), set in the American suburbs at a time when the protagonist cannot legally have an abortion. And There's Always Hope (Britain) by Tim Lewiston shows the plight of an author whose desire to succeed with her best work has separated her from an important relationship. Finally, Pilar Palomero from Zaragoza will present the youth drama La maternal [+lire aussi :
