The sixth edition of Malaga Work in Progress, one of the sections of MAFIZ, the industry area of the 26th Malaga Film Festival aimed at Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American projects in post-production, is being held between 13 and 17 March in the Andalusian city. Fifteen films from ten different countries will be presented and screened before an audience of accredited professionals - sales agents, programmers, international funds, digital platforms and producers - to support their completion and their international distribution and promotion.

Among its guests are Filmin, Movistar Plus+, Filmax, ANTIDOTE Sales, the Toulouse Latin American Film Festival, the Locarno Film Festival, IndieLisboa, Film Financing Market, Neo Art Producciones S.L., Amateur Films, Habanero Films, and Agencia Freak. And with collaborations from Latido Films, Mister Miyagi, Yagán Films, SANFIC Industria, Abycine, REC Tarragona and FIDBA, among others.

For the second year, Spanish productions of the initiative, under the label Malaga WIP Spain, join Spanish Screenings Content, which this year started on Monday with new activities and content, which we have reported here. Among these feature films is the new work by the always surprising and adventurous filmmaker Jo Sol, The Residents, after his Armugan [+lire aussi :

The projects’ filmmakers had the opportunity to present pitches on Monday and to arrange meetings with potential partners. Malaga WIP aims to affirm the commitment to the diverse identities and languages of Ibero-America and its audiovisual industry and to establish partnerships.

The juries of Malaga WIP Spain –made up of Viviana Carlet (Lago Film Fest), Kristina Konrad (Weltfilm) and Brais Romero (ECAM)– and of Malaga WIP Ibero-America –made up of Gloria Bretones (Begin Again Films), Diego Carazo-Migerel (Outplay Films) and Ana Pereira (DocsLisboa)– will award the Malaga Festival Award this Friday, with 5,000 euros going to an Ibero-American film, and 5,000 euros for a Spanish film.

Malaga WIP is organised by Malaga City Council, Málaga Procultura and the Malaga Festival in collaboration with the Spanish Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute  (ICAA), Conference of  Ibero-American Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities (CAACI), Ibermedia and Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers (FIPCA).
