The shoot has just begun for Flores para Antonio (lit. “Flowers for Antonio”), a new, original feature-length documentary from Movistar Plus+ that will look back on the life and oeuvre of late Madrilenian musician and composer Antonio Flores (1961-1995) from the point of view of his daughter, actress Alba Flores, who is a familiar face in popular series such as Locked Up, Holy Family, Romancero, Queer You Are and Money Heist, among others. , and the non-fiction series La mano en el fuego and El robo del Códice). According to the brains behind it, the film will take us on a journey through memory and through the present, via unseen material (home videos, photos, recordings, drawings, archival images and his own music), enabling us to gain a fully rounded understanding of the figure and the importance of Antonio, a famous composer and performer of songs such as “No dudaría”, “Siete vidas” and “Alba” (which happened to be dedicated to his daughter). He also tried his hand at some cinematic ventures, such as acting in titles like Pals by Eloy de la Iglesia in 1982 (his acting debut), together with his sister Rosario Flores, alongside whom he also worked on Carlos Serrano’s Calé five years later.

In Flores para Antonio, Alba Flores rummages around in her father’s keepsake boxes, listens to his rehearsal tapes, learns his songs and takes part in the first concert held in his honour. All this while gaining an understanding of who her father was and discovering still-untold stories together with her mother, Ana Villa, and her aunts: singers Lolita (winner of the Goya Award for Best New Actress in 2002 for Rancour) and Rosario, who was an Almodóvar girl in Talk to Her [+lire aussi :

as well as appearing in Against the Wind (which earned her a Goya nomination in 1991), El mejor de los tiempos, Delusions in Love and Chatarra, among other films.

Alba Flores states, “This film started life as an offering of love to Antonio and his fans. What I didn’t know is just how much some people from my father’s circle needed something like this. It’s a film that we are shooting in a raw and sensitive fashion, for an artist who also created in a raw and sensitive manner.”

Flores para Antonio is a Movistar Plus+ original being produced by Flower Power Producciones, LACOProductora, Caballo Films and Flores para Antonio la película AIE. The movie will be released in Spanish theatres courtesy of A Contracorriente Films, and subsequently, it will land on Movistar Plus+ as an exclusive. The international sales will be entrusted to French sales agent Goodfellas.
