Copenhagen-based international sales agent LevelK will showcase a diverse selection of films at the upcoming Cannes’ Marché du Film (13-21 May), featuring a mix of dramas, comedies, thrillers, and animations. The slate includes a range of compelling stories, from thought-provoking dramas to engaging comedies.
Screening at the Marché du Film and ahead of its Tribeca premiere, The Wolf, the Fox and the Leopard is a provocative new drama by Dutch filmmaker David Verbeek. The story follows a feral young woman raised by wolves who is captured and thrust into modern society, only to be “rescued” by a radical couple who isolate her on a remote, abandoned oil rig. Starring Jessica Reynolds, Maria Jung, Nicholas Pinnock, and Naomi Kawase, the film is a co-production between Netherlands (Lemming Film), Croatia (Nukleus Film), Ireland (Feline Films), Luxembourg (Deal Productions) and Taiwan (Flash Forward Entertainment).
Also on the slate is Dust, the upcoming suspense drama from Belgian director Anke Blondé, currently in production (see the news). The film follows Luc and Geert, two celebrated tech entrepreneurs whose empire is on the brink of collapse after news of their fraud is set to break within 24 hours. As they try to salvage their reputations, they must come to terms with their past actions. Starring Jan Hammenecker, Arieh Worthalter, and Thibaud Dooms, Dust promises a gripping exploration of guilt, accountability, and the human cost of ambition.
Chasing Millions is a character-driven heist comedy from Irish director Stephen Burke, inspired by the real-life £26 million Northern Bank robbery in Belfast. Diana, a young Australian detective, teams up with a gruff Northern Irish officer to solve the case and prove herself. As bizarre twists unfold, she devises a bold plan to make the stolen millions worthless. Starring Madeleine Madden and Christopher Eccleston and shooting in June in Ireland, Chasing Millions is a co-production between Ireland (Mammoth Films) and Australia (Invisible Republic).
Another Irish film is the sports comedy mockumentary Fran the Man by Stephen Bradley, which explores the world of Irish football and had its world premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival (see the news).
Pretty Young Love is a coming-of-age drama directed by Danish filmmaker Mogens Hagedorn, set for release in June. The story centres on teenager Selma, eager to move on from a fractured friendship. She meets Johan, her new music teacher, and as their relationship intensifies, Johan rekindles Selma’s passion for music but also forces her to confront the risks of a hidden romance. Starring Karoline Hamm, Pretty Young Love is produced by Denmark’s SF Studios.
Furthermore, The Food Club - Home Again, a comedy-drama by Charlotte Sachs Bostrup, is the sequel to Barbara Topsøe-Rothenborg’s The Food Club [+lire aussi :
