Marijana Janković’s debut feature, Home, has been selected to world-premiere in the Big Screen competition of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), which will unspool from 29 January-8 February 2026 (see the news).
Drawing on a deeply personal story, Home explores themes of displacement, belonging and intergenerational sacrifice through the experience of a family that emigrates from Yugoslavia to Denmark in the hope of building a better future. The film follows Maja, who leaves her homeland at the age of six with her parents, while her two older brothers remain behind, meant to reunite with the family once they are settled. As the years pass, Maja grows up and becomes a successful artist in Denmark, but continues to grapple with the emotional fractures left by migration, memory and loss.

fiche film]), with Janković herself also appearing in a central role. Previously acclaimed for her short Maja, which scooped Best Narrative Short at the Tribeca Film Festival, Janković co-wrote Home alongside Babak Vakili, Emil Nygaard Albertsen and Bo Hr Hansen.
Other cast members include Nada Šargin, Tara Cubrilo, Nikola Kojo, Lene Maria Christensen, Olga Odanović, Branislav Trifunović and Kirsten Lehfeldt. Attached key creatives are cinematographer Manuel Claro and editor Jenna Andreasen Mangulad.
Budgeted at €2.9 million, Home is being produced by Mads-August Hertz for Denmark’s Nordisk Film Production, with support from the Danish Film Institute, FilmFyn, TV 2 Denmark and Nordisk Film Distribution. The pic's local release, handled by Nordisk Film Distribution, is slated for 16 April 2026. TrustNordisk is in charge of its international sales.
