The first clapperboard slammed on Monday on Italian-Spanish CSC graduate Mauro Díez Concari’s debut feature film, Costanera, an internationally minded movie weaving jazz, love and talent into a coming-of-age tale spanning two continents. Produced by Gianluca Curti, Andrea Curti and Santo Versace for Minerva Pictures, in co-production with Nadador Cine (Uruguay) and Agresywna Banda (Poland) and in collaboration with RAI Cinema, the shoot will take place between Lazio, Apulia and Uruguay, and will wrap on 10 April 2026.

The protagonist is Diego, a talented but restless young trumpeter who decides to leave Rome and his girlfriend Alice to join his mentor, Nacho, in Argentina. Waiting for him on the other side of the world are neither contracts nor certainties. Diego sets off because he genuinely wants to try to be a musician, tuning into his own talent and putting his determination to the test without any excuses, but the journey soon proves more existential than professional. In Buenos Aires, Diego comes into contact with a new milieu, characterised by nights full of music, colour and feverish improvisations, but, most importantly, he rediscovers love with Camila, a young aspiring translator who sweeps him off his feet. She also ensures the questions that have long troubled him take centre stage, helping him find answers which are often unexpected.

Costanera promises to be a lively, joyful debut feature, fusing music and intimate storytelling. Brimming with colour and dynamism, this first film transforms a young artist’s journey into a universal reflection on the search for oneself, for one’s talent and for one’s place in the world. The film’s original score is composed by one of the world’s most acclaimed contemporary singer-songwriters and jazz pianists, Raphael Gualazzi.
