Today is the first of five days of business in a brand new virtual environment at the Marché du Film (22 - 26 June) of the Cannes Film Festival, and the very dynamic French international sales agents are of course present, with line-ups including feature films from all over the world, many of them recipients of a label (Cannes 73 Official Selection, Critics' Week or ACID). We complete our overview of those line-ups.

The Wild Bunch team (which has just obtained a line of credit worth €35 Million from Commerbank for its future acquisitions) is also negotiating on a series of upcoming titles. Standing out in post-production are the animated films The Summit Of The Gods from Patrick Imbert and Where Is Anne Frank? from Israeli director Ari Folman, For Better and For Worse by Stéphane Brizé, Thierry de Peretti’s Undercover, Sylvie Verheyde’s Madame Claude,  Yassine Qnia’s A Brighter Tomorrow, the documentary Lumière! The Adventure Continues by Thierry Frémaux, The Third War [+leggi anche:

from Italian director Giovanni Aloï, Unclenching The Fists from Russian filmmaker Kira Kovalenko, Animals from Belgian director Nabil Ben Yadir, Hatching from Finnish director Hanna Bergholm, Taste from Vietnamese filmmaker Le Bao, Harami from Indian director Shyam Madiraju, Shake Your Cares Away from Israeli director Tom Shoval, Flag Day from American filmmaker Sean Penn and Mainstream from Gia Coppola. Worth noting and nearing the end of production is The Crusade by and starring Louis Garrel, and, in pre-production Julia Ducournau’s Titane and Caravaggio’s Shadow from Italian director Michele Placido.

Also at the forefront at Cannes’ market, Playtime is selling three feature-length recipients of the Cannes 73 Official Selection label: François Ozon’s Summer of 85 [+leggi anche:

(both will be distributed in France by Diaphana, on 14 July and 16 September, respectively), as well as True Mothers from Japanese director Naomi Kawase. Standing out from the post-production line-up are Laurent Cantet’s Arthur Rambo, 15 Ways To Kill from Argentine filmmaker Santiago Mitre, Memory Box from Lebanese directors Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige, the English language feature film Wise Blood from Belgian filmmaker Bouli Lanners and Tim Mielants, Libertad from Spanish director Clara Roquet, Sans Soleil from Belgian filmmaker Banu Akseki and Nine Antico’s Playlist.

The sales team of mk2 Films will be screening at the market two films given the official Selection label: The Big Hit from French filmmaker Emmanuel Courcol (released in France on 28 October via Memento) and the Israelo-Italian co-production Here We Are by Nir Bergman. Pre-sales are continuing on The Worst Person In The World from Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier (which will begin filming in August) and on two films currently in production, Axelle Roppert’s Petite Solange and Alex Helfrecht’s A Winter’s Journey. Joining the line-up are Carine Tardieu’s The Young Lovers (filming at the end of the summer and starring Fanny Ardant and Melvil Poupaud) and the animation project The Inventor (about the life of Leonard de Vinci) by Jim Capobianco.

Continuing its exponential growth, WTFilms is betting on three French recipients of the label: Farid Bentoumi’s Red Soil, Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma’s Teddy [+leggi anche:

Also worth noting is the creation of Reservoir Docs (former Wide House, still headed by Anaïs Clanet who is now associated with Frédéric Corvez’s group Urban).
