Running in parallel with the 50th Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund (20-26 August), New Nordic Films will present for another year the newest trends of the region from 23-26 August. The 28th edition of the market will welcome industry representatives both on site as well as online. The programme includes a selection of market screenings, work-in-progress presentations, projects in development, a number of Haugesund seminars and labs.
A total of 20 selected titles are being featured in the market screenings that will open with Triangle of Sadness [+leggi anche:

scheda film] by Ruben Östlund, and among them are three new local films, suspense thriller Storm directed by debutant helmer Erika Calmeyer (read news), coming-of-age drama Norwegian Dream by Leiv Igor Devold and horror-thriller Leave by Alex Herron. From Sweden are coming the semi-autobiographical Burn All My Letters by Björn Runge (news), the episodic relationship comedy Locals by Måns Nyman, crime teenage drama Bullets by Peter Pontikis and drama The Store by Ami-ro Sköld (Granny’s Dancing on the Table [+leggi anche:
scheda film]). Furthermore the period romantic drama A Letter from Helga by Iceland’s Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir (The Swan [+leggi anche:

scheda film]), and the Finnish titles, The Grump: In Search of an Escort the latest work by Mika Kaurusmaki, coming-of-age drama Bubble, directed by Aleksi Salmenperä (A Man’s Job [+leggi anche:
scheda film]); and dystopian drama Memory of Water by Saara Saarela (news), are included in the screenings.
A total of 17 projects in post-production have been selected to be presented on Thursday 25 August as works-in-progress. Some of the highlights included in the selection are A Happy Day, the fourth feature film by Norwegian director Hisham Zaman (Before Snowfall [+leggi anche:
scheda film]), sports teenage drama Forever by Sweden writer-director Anders Hazelius (Thin Blue Line), Four Little Adults the latest work by Finnish director Selma Vilhunen (Stupid Young Heart [+leggi anche:
scheda film]) that is a “contemporary look at the various forms of love” (news), along with the new World War II drama The Liberation, the first Danish feature by Anders Walter (I Kill Giants [+leggi anche:

Furthermore, seasoned Norwegian film director and WWII survivor, Knut Erik Jensen (Ice Kiss), brings a a fable-like tale told through a girl’s dreams, memories and traumas in Longing for Today, Ukrainian director Ivan Tymchenko’s Oxygen Station, follows a Soviet dissident and human rights activist who is exiled in Siberia, one of Finland’s most prominent directors Teemu Nikki, who also won at Haugesund’s New Nordic Films with The Blind Man Who Did Not Want to See Titanic [+leggi anche:

Nils Gaup’s historical action drama The Riot explore the origins of the labour movement and workers’ rights in the mining city of Sulitjelma in the early 20th century (news), Lebanese director Karim Kassem is completing his trilogy that started with Only the Winds [+leggi anche:
