Honouring young, independent production companies, the IFCIC Prize awarded by the French Institute for the Funding of the Film and Cultural Industries was exceptionally bestowed upon two firms (on account of its cancellation for the duration of the pandemic), with the 16th trophy going to Petit Films (Jean des Forêts) and the 17th to Tripode Productions (Delphine Schmit and Guillaume Dreyfus).

, which Delphine Schmit produced by way of Perspective Films), Our Wildest Days, which is Vasilis Kekatos’ first feature (awarded the 2019 Palme d'Or for Best Short Film), and Alex Lutz’s Connemara.

The awards see Petit Films and Tripode Productions joining the ranks of former IFCIC prize-winners, TS Productions (2004), Les Productions du Trésor (2005), Elia Films (2006), La Mouche du Coche (2007), Les Films du Poisson (2008), 2.4.7. Films (2009), The Film (2010), Origami Films (2011), Lionceau Films (2012), Dharamsala (2013), Lilies Films (2014), CG Cinéma (2015), Les Films du Bélier (2016), Maneki Films (2017) and TAT Productions (2019).
