A programme aimed at the transition from short to feature filmmaking, the Talent Village — whose 6th edition will take place from 16 to 19 December as part of the Industry Village of the 15th Les Arcs Film Festival (16-23 December) — will feature a mentor of quality in the person of Ruben Östlund (Palme d’or winner in Cannes in 2017 for The Square [+leggi anche:

scheda film]). The Swedish filmmaker will meet with the eight young European talents selected and share with them his experience. He will also be a Guest of Honour of the festival and in that role will deliver a masterclass open to the public. 

Centred on industry issues and the question of international appeal, the Talent Village will see its selected participants polish their projects through three workshops led by Danish producer Katrin Pors (Snowglobe), France’s Olivier Barbier (director of acquisitions at mk2 Films), music supervisor Laura Gentile (Schmooze), also from France, and Italy’s Gaia Furrer (artistic director at Giornate degli Autori). The young filmmakers will then participate in the market of the Coproduction Village. Finally, the Talent Village prize (€1500 given by the festival) will be handed out to the best project selected by a jury composed of Denmark’s Susan Wendt, (managing director at TrustNordisk), German producer Roxanna Richters (Chromosom Films) and Italian director Giacomo Abbruzzese (Disco Boy [+leggi anche:

The selected talents of 2023 (all of them noticed with their short films, from the Berlinale to the Cinef in Cannes, from Sundance and Karlovy Vary to Clermont-Ferrand) are the Netherlands’ Emma Branderhors, Germany’s Alma Buddecke, France’s Joséphine Darcy Hopkins, Denmark’s Marlene Emilie Lyngstadt, Greece’s Isabella Margara, Belgium’s Lisa Sallustio, Lithuania’s Rinaldas Tomasevicius and Poland’s Anna Wowra. These eight filmmakers will also be able to work with four composers selected as part of Les Arcs’ Music Village (in partnership with La Sacem): France’s Niki Demiller and Juliette Sede, the Netherlands’ Jac Von Exter (chosen in association with BUMA Music in Motion as part of the festival’s Focus dedicated this year to the Netherlands) and Romania’s Ovidiu Zimcea.
