The finishing touches have been added to the programme of the 77th Cannes Film Festival (15-24 May). After the announcement of the additions to the Official Selection (see the news), the festival has now unveiled the line-ups for the Cannes Classics and Cinéma de la plage parallel sections, as well as the titles selected to screen as Special Screenings specifically for young audiences.

This year's special spotlight on animation film, which includes an Honorary Palme d'Or being awarded to Japan's Studio Ghibli, is widened through the selection of two films as Special Screenings for young audiences: Sauvages, the new film by Claude Barras after his 2016 Directors' Fortnight sensation and Oscar-nominated My Life as a Courgette [+leggi anche:

. Another animated flick, Jul & Guigue's Silex and the City, has been selected. Other titles in the section, whose full programme has not been unveiled yet, include My Way by France's Lisa Azuelos and Thierry Teston, and Transmitzvah by Argentina's Daniel Burman.

The Cannes Classics selection, created 20 years ago, once again features tribute screenings, restored prints and new documentaries. Among the latter, European titles are dedicated to directors Jacques Demy (Jacques Demy, le rose et le noir by France's Florence Platarets), Jacques Rozier (Jacques Rozier : d’une vague à l’autre by France's Emmanuel Barnault), François Truffaut (François Truffaut, le scénario de ma vie by France's David Teboul) and Michel Legrand Once Upon a Time Michel Legrand by France's David Hertzog Dessites). But this year's highlight is Jean-Luc Godard's final film, the 18-minute short titled Scénarios, made literally the day before his voluntary death, as well as a 34-minute film recorded in addition, in which, by mixing still and moving images, he outlined his project for the former.

Here is the list of new films selected:
