Charlotte Blom’s new feature, titled Three Men and Vilma, is set to hit Norwegian theatres on 8 November. The upcoming dramedy, penned by Maren Skolem (Beforeigners), is based on the 2020 book of the same name by Gudrun Skretting, published in a number of countries, including Germany, France and Finland.

scheda film] (2015) and Diana’s Wedding (2020). Three Men and Vilma entered production on 25 January.

In detail, the story follows a 35-year-old teacher called Vilma Veierød, who lives alone. She shuns social media and worries too much, most of all about death. One day in December, the handsome priest Ivar and the pathologist Robert (who has Tourette’s) suddenly appear on her doorstep with a letter and the news that her father has died. Vilma didn’t even know that she had a father, and the letter turns her whole life upside down.

Vilma Veierød’s life has not been full of people. Not by a long shot. But now, suddenly, she must deal with two men. Three, if you count her dead father.

The main cast is spearheaded by Kjersti Dalseiede (Made in Oslo), who stars alongside Tobias Santelmann (The Fortress [+leggi anche:

scheda film]). Key crew members include cinematographer Arild Vik Edvardsen and editor Zaklina Stojcevska.

Last week, Denmark’s TrustNordisk boarded the picture’s international sales. The firm’s managing director, Susan Wendt, commented: “We are thrilled to once again be collaborating with Maipo Film on this exciting project, which tells a charming and heart-warming story. We have noticed a high demand for this type of light dramedy in the current market, so we expect it to be well received among buyers.” The sales agent bills it as “a warm, funny and touching movie” about “loneliness, belonging and taking the risk of living”.

Budgeted at €2.9 million, Three Men and Vilma is being produced by Synnøve Hørsdal and Cornelia Boysen for Norway’s Maipo Film, in co-production with Nordisk Film and the Oslo Filmfond, and with backing from the Norwegian Film Institute.
