Shooting Stars at EFP
The aptly-named Cécile de France has been chosen to represent France at the 2003 edition of Shooting Stars, organised by European Film Promotion to run concurrently with the Berlin International Film Festival. De France is one of the stars of Cédric Klapisch’s latest hit, L’auberge espagnol. Born in Belgium, De France’s professional profile includes appearances in hit films and TV dramas like Edouard Molinaro’s Nana and a starring role in Richard Berry’s directorial feature debut entitled L’art (delicat) de la séduction. She has also acted on stage, namely in Claudia Stavisky’s Electre. She is currently on the set of Ivan Calbérac’s directorial feature, Irène.
"I'm very happy because I made a movie called L'auberge espagnole by Cédric Klapisch which will be shown in many, many countries.
And I hope that many people will see it, because it is a European movie. It is a story of a French student who goes to Barcelona to be part of the Erasmus-program and she will meet many European students. It is a film about the new generation. When I work with a director I try to adopt his universe, his mind, his imagination and so it is the same with the culture of the different European countries. All you pass through in someone’s universe is so interesting and it is the same with the culture and the countries. Vive la jeunesse, vive le cinéma et vive l'Europe".
