by Italian directing duo Martina Parenti and Massimo D’Anolfi is one of the very few documentaries being presented in the International Competition of this year’s Venice Film Festival. The movie was shot in various countries around the world and is a fine balance between the human and the superhuman. It pays homage to the finest part of humankind, the search for immortality, all based around the four elements: earth, water, air and fire. This surprising documentary teeters between poetry and technology. Spira Mirabilis is a co-production between Swiss outfit Lomotion (Bern) and Italy’s Montmorency Film (Milan), in conjunction with Rai Cinema and SRF Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen/SRG.
