EL IMPENETRABLE
by Daniele Incalcaterra, Fausta Quattrini
synopsis
This is a story of an inheritance I received from my father—5,000 hectares of virgin forest in “El impenetrable.” This is what the Spanish called the Chaco, the second largest forest after the Amazon, during the age of the conquest. Arriving in Paraguay with the aim of returning that land to its original owners, the Guarnì, I found myself in the far west, with lands waiting to be conquered, Indians to exterminate and an abundance of natural resources. Coming up against opposition from the landowners and the corruption of the Paraguayan administration, I had to find a new solution for my land.
