Deneuve to star in new Desplechin and Téchiné films

by

Catherine Deneuve is set for a busy year, which will kick start in March with the shoot of Arnaud Desplechin’s Un conte de Noël (lit. “A Christmas Fairytale”), to be followed by Spanish director Javier Elorrieta’s Tres mujeres (lit. “Three Women”) in May and, in the autumn, by André Téchiné’s new film and Laetitia Colombani’s Mes stars et moi (lit. “My Stars and Me”).

Before then, the actress will head the bill in Gaël Morel’s Après Lui [+see also:

, Deneuve will have a bigger role in Un conte de Noël, in which she stars alongside Mathieu Amalric, Emmanuelle Devos and Jean-Paul Roussillon, as well as Chiara Mastroianni, Anne Consigny and Melvil Poupaud.

Co-written by the director and Emmanuel Bourdieu, the film charts the highs and lows of a family reunion during the Christmas holidays (starring Deneuve and Roussillon as the parents, Consigny, Amalric, Poupaud as their children and Devos and Mastroianni as their daughter-in-laws).

Produced by Why Not, Un conte de Noël was granted CNC advances on receipts and will shoot in the northern French towns of Roubaix and Tourcoing.

After heading to Spain for the shoot (which begins in May) of Elorrieta’s Tres mujeres – featuring Deneuve, Susan Sarandon and Annie Girardot (see article) – she will work for the sixth time with Téchiné, this time opposite Michel Blanc in a still untitled comedy set in the world of art dealers, from the SBS Films slate.

Lastly, the actress will end the year on the set of Colombani’s Mes stars et moi, a Nord-Ouest production starring Kad Merad (2007 Cesar for Best Supporting Actor with Don’t Worry, I’m Fine [+see also:
