Dijon Film Meetings speakers announced

Presided over by filmmaker Radu Mihăileanu, the Dijon Film Meetings (October 18-21) will bring together over 400 industry professionals from Europe (in particular representatives of each member organisation of the FERA) and the United States.

The annual event – one of the most important on the current and future state of the film industry, which is jointly organised by the ARP (Association of Authors, Directors and Producers) the City of Dijon and the Burgundy region – this week unveiled the participants of its various panels after having presented its programme in June (see news).

On Friday October 19, the debate Which Future for Television With the Arrival of Internet? will give the floor to Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC)) Director General Véronique Cayla, Rodolphe Belmer (Assistant Director General, Canal +), Jean-Paul Salomé (filmmaker and ARP President), Philippe Bailly (Associate Director, NPA Conseil), Nicolas de Tavernost (President, M6) and Patrick Walker (Director, Google Video Partnerships for Europe, Middle-East and Africa).

On Saturday October 20, the morning will be devoted to the thorny topic of Competition Law, Economic Diversity and Cultural Policy. How to make them work together?. Speakers include Christine Albanel (Minister for Culture and Communication), Christophe Forax (member of the cabinet of European Commissioner Viviane Reding), Roch-Olivier Maistre (film mediator), Thierry Dahan (Head Case Officer, Conseil de la Concurrence), François Rebsamen (Mayor of Dijon) and film director Lionel Delplanque.

Moderated by Michel Gomez (ARP Director General), the afternoon panel will be devoted to Authors’ Rights in the Digital Landscape, with speakers including Mihăileanu, Daniel Fava (President of AFA - Association of Internet Access and Service Providers), Benjamin Bejbaum (Dailymotion co-founder), Bernard Miyet (Sacem President), Robert Pisano (President and Chief Operating Officer, Motion Picture Association of America - MPAA) and Howard A. Rodman (member of the Writers Guild of America - WGA).

Lastly, on Saturday a round table will be held on The Movie Theatre at the Heart of Cinema. Speakers are Spain’s Enrique Gonzales Macho (director of Cinémas Renoir/Alta Films), Claude-Éric Poiroux (Director of Europa Cinémas), Alain Nouaille (Vice President of AFCAE – French Association of Arthouse and Experimental Films), Emmanuel Ethis (sociologist and Université d’Avignon President), Jean Marboeuf (director and ARP Vice President) and Stéphane Faudeux (Club HD President).
