Canet to appear in Schoendoerffer’s Truands

by

Following Scènes de crime (2000) and Agents secrets (2004), the French director Frédéric Schoendoerffer returns with another genre film, Truands, set in the modern Paris crime-world. For this third feature, which the director describes as a very realistic x-ray, he has already cast Guillaume Canet and Philippe Caubère, but the important female role in this film about men has yet to be announced. Co-written by Frédéric Schoendoerffer and Yann Brion (a duo involved in all the director’s films), the screenplay for Truands will develop the traditional gangster themes around the old adage: “nobody gives you power, you have to take it” .

Produced by Eric Nevé for Carcharodon, in co-production with La Chauve Souris (also the French producer’s company), Truands will have an eight week shoot from October, with exterior shots using exclusively actual locations in Paris. Still in final preparation, the budget could bring together the Swiss company Navarro Films who participated in the development. As for distribution, Mars will take care of the French release while Studio Canal will handle international sales. Agents secrets, the director’s previous work accumulated in 2004 more than 850 000 admissions in France and was sold to more than 30 territories.
