Produced by Yves Marmion (UGC YM) for UGC who also look after distribution in France and international sales, Un secret retraces the life of a Jewish family after the second world war. Only son, Philippe always felt he had a brother. Apparently living a peaceful existence with his parents Maxime and Tania, the un-said rules and confidences are non-existent. But a terrible secret will gradually reveal itself, going back to the period of the Occupation. Maxime and Tania were brother and sister in law. Secretly passionately in love, they tried to ignore it until war broke out. And family guilt, linked to their feelings, dramatically aggravate their lives because of historical disruptions and the deportation of Jews. Adapted for the big screen by Claude Miller and Natalie Carter, Un secret follows a strong tendency in French films to use, more and more, novels as a source, since the book was published in 2004 by Editions Grasset.
