Historical success for Gasolin documentary

by

Anders Østergaard’s Gasolin, which opened on March 10 in Denmark, is so far the most successful theatrically released documentary and one of the top Danish releases of the year with 112,341 admissions.

Launched on 41 screens by Sandrew Metronome, with a heretofore unheard of P&A budget of €167,546 for a documentary, the film tells the story of the famous Danish rock band Gasolin, from its rise in the late 1960s to its fall and separation in 1978. For the first time ever, charismatic lead singer Kim Larsen, bass and keyboard player Franz Beckerlee, guitarist Willi Jønsson and drummer Søren Berlev, whose popularity in Denmark in the 1970s remains unrivalled, talk about their past and present life and the why and how they broke up.
