by

This week marks the fourth week of shooting of Ferzan Ozpetek’s Saturno contro (Saturn Opposing), in the Ostiense neighbourhood of Rome, where the director of Turkish origin has been living for 30 years and where he set his 2000 film, The Ignorant Fairies.

The cast features Stefano Accorsi and Margherita Buy (together again after Ignorant), Pierfrancesco Favino, Serra Yilmaz, Ennio Fantastichini, Ambra Angiolini, Isabella Ferrari, Lunetta Savino and Milena Vukotic.

The film’s title comes from astrology (to have "Saturn opposing"), explained the director, who is an Aquarius, but little is known about the plot. "The story came about chatting with Gianni Romoli [co-screenwriter and producer with Tilde Corsi at R&C Produzioni] and playing around with experiences in our lives. Friendship surrounds the main idea, and binds everything. Friendship mixed with love and sex, which reflects my life exactly", said Ozpetek.

In the film, Accorsi works in a bank ("unhappily, because he wants to be something else”), Favino is a writer of fairy tales, and Buy a psychoanalyst who helps people stop smoking. "I’m in love with all of them, the roles and actors. I don’t know how I’m going to tear myself away from them, I’m also a bit scared of all this intensity".

Saturno contro will released in Italian cinemas in February 2007 by Medusa Film.
