(lit. “Shelter: Anis Among Us”) by Marco Simon Puccioni will represent Italy in the Panorama section of the 57th edition of the Berlin Film Festival (February 8-18). Approximately 19,000 filmgoers will vote on the sidebar’s films for the Panorama Audience Award.

Riparo-Anis tra di noi – produced by Mario Mazzarotto for Intel Film and French outfit Adésif, in collaboration with RAI Cinema, backing from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission, the Media Programme and Eurimages) – is Puccioni’s second feature after What You Are Looking For. The story was written by Clara Ferri and Monica Rametta and the screenplay by Puccioni and Rametta, with the collaboration of Heidrun Schleef.

The film, starring Maria de Medeiros, Antonia Liskova and Mounir Ouadi, tells the story of Anna, a wealthy, upper class, 35 year-old factory owner, who is involved with 25 year-old Mara, one of her employees. Upon returning from a vacation together, their lives are disrupted by Anis, an illegal immigrant from the Maghreb. Riparo offers a lucid and non-moralising look at homosexuality, social inequality and the threats of globalisation.
