NORDESTE

by Juan Solanas

synopsis

Forty-three-year-old Hélène has focused all her energy on her professional career, but she decides to no longer let life pass her by. Her desire for a child takes her to Argentina, where she hopes to adopt. She discovers Nord Este, a wild region where the landscape’s captivating beauty contrasts harshly with the social injustice in which people live. During her search, Hélène comes up against a society weighed down by suffering, where lives are crushed by misery that leaves people open to any kind of corruption, trafficking and compromise. As she encounters people and forms friendships, Hélène is constantly confronted by her own doubts and starts questioning her personal motives. What was a straightforward search becomes a journey of initiation.
