Vértice Cine created from merger between Notro and Manga

Today, the creation of new distribution company Vértice Cine was officially announced. Owned by the Vértice 360º group, the company is the result of the merger between the two distributors previously run by the group, Manga Films and Notro Films. The new company will be headed by Jesús Prieto Sacristán.

The announcement was made at the Seville European Film Festival, which hosted a tribute to Fernando Trueba, director of The Dancer and the Thief [+see also:

Vértice Cine will aim to theatrically release between 15-18 productions per year, including features and documentaries, as well as distribute films on DVD/Blu-Ray, television and Internet. The company, which has inherited an extensive and diverse catalogue, will distribute domestic films and international mega-productions.

In 2010, the company will handle the Spanish release of Oceans, the most expensive European documentary in history, with a budget of over €50m; David Serrano’s Una Hora Más en Canarias (“One More Hour in the Canary Islands”), produced by Telespan 2000; and Martin Scorsese’s new film, Shutter Island.
