Arte France Cinéma backs Verheyde, Brizé, Dupieux and Caumon

Arte France Cinéma has pledged to co-produce and pre-buy six features.

The company has decided to back two films that have finished shooting: Sylvie Verheyde’s Confession of a Child of the Century, featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Pete Doherty (produced by Les Films du Veyrier – see news); and Yves Caumon’s The Bird, starring Sandrine Kiberlain (Blue Monday Productions – see news).

Two titles set to shoot in April-May have also been selected: Stéphane Brizé’s A Few Hours of Spring, whose cast includes Vincent Lindon and Emmanuelle Seigner (co-produced by TS Productions); and Quentin Dupieux’s Wrong (aka Reality – see news), which will be set in Los Angeles and produced by Realitism Films.

Arte France Cinéma will also support young Canadian prodigy Xavier Dolan’s Laurence Anyways, which is produced by MK2 and is currently shooting with actors Melvil Poupaud and Nathalie Baye. Also in the selection is The Inheritance, the debut directorial feature by actress Hiam Abbass, who will star alongside Hafsia Herzi. Produced by Agat Films et Cie, the film will shoot in the autumn near Haifa.
