Sofia Meetings announces selected projects

A total of 26 features have been selected for the 11th edition of Sofia Meetings, the co-production market hosted by the Sofia International Film Festival. Over four days, the directors will come into contact with renowned producers from all over Europe, bringing their projects ever closer to fruition.

Supported by the MEDIA programme of the European Union, the co-production market promotes first, second and third feature projects and works in progress by Bulgarian, Balkan and European directors, presenting them to producers, sales agents, distributors and film-festival organisers.

Six second features were selected: Valeri Yordanov's Call Me Shakespeare (Bulgaria), Ignas Jonynas' Dancers Without Defects (Lithuania), Konstantin Bojanov's I Want to Be Like You (Bulgaria), Milko Lazarov's Nanook (Bulgaria), Paul Negoescu's Never Let It Go (Romania) and Andrea Pallaoro's The Whale (France, Italy, Canada).

The "Plus Minus One" programme will introduce new features by Mira Fornay, Rinio Dragassaki, Mariam Khachvani, Petar Ristovski, Amikam Kovner and Assaf Snir, Radu Jude, Ali Hasanov, and Jan Speckenbach, while "Projects in Bank" will showcase projects from Luxembourg, Turkey, Serbia, Russia, Bulgaria, Romania and Switzerland.

Sofia Meetings will give Best Pitching and Best Project Awards in post-production services.
