(“Guilty”), will be included in the Panorama section of the 58th Berlin International Film Festival (February 7-17).

Starring Jérémie Renier, Hélène Fillières, Denis Podalydès, Anne Consigny and Amira Casar, this detective comedy written by the director traces the misadventures of a lawyer who defends a woman suspected of having killed her husband.

Masson has already attended the Berlin Festival, accompanying her debut feature To Have (or Not) (screened in the Forum in 1996) and Love Me (screened in competition in 2000).

The director’s other films include For Sale (screened in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes in 1998); The Repentant (2002); and Why (Not) Brazil? (screened in competition at Locarno Film Festival in 2004).

Produced by Rezo Films and co-produced by Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, Coupable benefits from pre-sales from Canal + and an overall budget of €1.48m.

The film will be released in France on February 27 by Rezo, who are also managing international sales.
