The action revolves around a dinner party given on June 21, the evening of the Fête de la Musique in the streets Paris. The hosts are a famous lawyer (Viard) and her unemployed husband (Boon). Guests include their daughter (Hands) and her lover, an older Breton sailer (Chesnais), a couple that includes a gynaecologist and a cancerologist (Foïs and Bruel), a writer (Seigner) accompanied by a top lawyer (Thompson), a kitchen designer (Stocker), a flamenco teacher (Li), and the host’s father (Arditi).

The characters get to know one another during the course of an evening full of unexpected events, not least because the code to enter the apartment building has changed. This code also symbolises that of social appearances at dinner parties.

Produced by Christine Gozlan for Thelma Films, Le code a changé is co-produced by Alter Films (Alain Terzian) and TF1 Films Production. The latter have also pre-bought the film, as have Canal +.

Shooting is set to last until June 11. International sales will be handled by StudioCanal, who will release the feature domestically in spring 2009.
