Adam’s Apples Best Film at Roberts

At last night’s Roberts Awards ceremony in Copenhagen, the Danish Film Academy gave its top award of Best Film to one of the most popular local films of the year, Anders Thomas Jensen’s Adam’s Apples [+see also:

. The black comedy went home with a total of four Roberts, of its seven nominations, including Best Screenplay for Jensen, who won the same award last year for Susanne Bier’s Brothers [+see also:

. Adam’s Apples sold over 350,000 tickets in Denmark in 2005 and was the country’s entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nomination.

The most nominated film of the year (in a total of 14 categories), Per Fly’s Manslaughter [+see also:

received three awards, including Best Direction and Best Supporting Actress for Charlotte Fich, but Lars von Trier’s Cannes competition title Manderlay [+see also:

left empty-handed in spite of its nine nominations.

In the acting categories, the leading duo in Jacob Thuesen’s drama Accused, Sofie Gråbøl and Troels Lyby, both won a Roberts and Thure Lindhart was named Best Supporting Actor for his part in Ole Christian Madsen’s Angels In Fast Motion, which won a total of five Roberts.

by Oliver Hirschbiegel added the Robert for Best Foreign Film (non-US) to its already breathtaking list of international awards, and Anders Rønnow-Klarlund’s marionnette film Strings [+see also:

, which premiered in Venice last September, was voted Best Children and Family Feature.

Danish film distributor Kirsten Dalgaard, managing director of Grand, Copenhagen’s beautiful arthouse cinema, was also given a Robert for her outstanding role in the Danish film industry.
