, is among the eight films in competition at the 31st Annecy International Animated Film Festival (June 1116), where it will have its world premiere.

It carried a €18m budget; took 38 weeks to shoot; had 27 sets occupying an area of 4,500m2; and up to 130 collaborators for the set, animation, filming, editing and production – 80 in Manchester for the manufacture of 150 puppets at Mackinnon & Saunders (Chicken Run, Corpse Bride), 20 in Belgium for special effects and a dozen in France for music and sound.

An ecological and social tale in which the locals of a small town foil the goings-on of a flyswatter manufacturer, Max & Co brings together Swiss DoP Renato Berta, French composer Bruno Coulais, Belgian animator Guionne Leroy (Toy Story, Chicken Run), as well as French actors Lorant Deutsch, Amélie Lerma, Virginie Efira, Patrick Bouchitey, Denis Podalydès, Micheline Dax and Tonie Marshall, who lend their voices to the characters of this large-scale animated production.
